Student conference “Science or Fiction? – Imagine the future of thermal energy storage technologies and applications”

Team of project Innovation Pathways to TES (INPATH-TES) - an EC funded project (HORIZON 2020 European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation for 2014-2020) is pleased to invite students to present the field of Thermal Energy Storage to the student conference “Science or Fiction? – Imagine the future of thermal energy storage technologies and applications” to be held in Riga on 29th September 2017.
The aim of the students' conference is to foster a closer relationship between the faculties dealing with TES activities in Europe and the rest of the world.

9:00 - 9:40 1st lecture "TES materials: characterization and selection for their applications" by Marilena de Simone

9:40 - 10:20 2nd lecture "Heat Transfer Enhancement in Phase-Change Materials" by Gennady Ziskind

10:20 - 10:40 3rd lecture "A critical analysis of building sustainability assessment methods - The case of healthcare buildings"by Maria de Fatima Castro

10:40 - 11:15 Coffee break and networking session

11:15 - 13:00 Student presentations

13:00 - 14:00 Lunch (including poster visits)

14:00 - 15:00 Open discussions and best posters reward

15:00 - 17:00 Workshop at Botanic Garden (including coffee break)

**Each participant is pleased to prepare 5 minutes long poster presentation for poster session.

Workshop

Workshop will be held in test stands for energy efficiency monitoring at Botanic Garden and it will include:

1.Presentation of 5 test buildings (information about materials and structures, equipment for heating, ventilation and cooling using air-air and air-water heat pumps);

2.Presentation of measurement and data acquisition system with different sensors, data transfer, storage and post processing;

3.Using of materials with different thermal capacity, conductivity and also phase change materials;

4.Demonstration of selected measurements (air exchange rate estimation, heat transfer and U-value measurements, analysis of thermal comfort conditions, etc.).

Publishing

All accepted abstracts will be included in the printed conference abstract book. Full papers will be peer-reviewed, and the accepted papers will be published in IOP Conference Series: Material Science and Engineering indexed by SCOPUS and Web of Science.

Conference fee

Conference fee until 1st August 2017 is 200 EUR, after 1st August 2017 - 250 EUR, On Site - 300 EUR
